The Development and Achievements of Xiaohongshu

Xiaohongshu is a lifestyle platform and consumer decision-making hub, founded by Mao Wenchao and Qu Fang in Shanghai in 2013. The platform includes its website, the "Xiaohongshu" app, and related websites or software operated by Xingyin Information Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and its affiliates. Xiaohongshu uses machine learning to efficiently match vast amounts of information with users. On the platform, users can record moments of their lives and share lifestyle content through short videos, images, and text, fostering interactions based on shared interests.

In June 2013, Xiaohongshu was established in Shanghai, and by December, it launched its overseas shopping sharing community. In December 2014, Xiaohongshu officially rolled out its e-commerce platform, "福利社" (Welfare Society). In May 2015, Xiaohongshu formed a strategic partnership with Australia's largest health supplement brand, Blackmores. By May 2017, the Redelivery international logistics system was launched. In May 2018, Xiaohongshu announced internally that it had completed over $300 million in financing, with a valuation exceeding $3 billion. In January 2020, the Xiaohongshu Creator Center went live. In November 2021, Xiaohongshu publicly shared updates on its "anti-wealth flaunting" initiative. In May 2022, Xiaohongshu released the "Community Business Convention," systematically expressing its stance on commercial norms within the community. In February 2023, Xiaohongshu launched its web version.

Xiaohongshu has received numerous accolades. In August 2014, it was recognized as the "Best Overseas Shopping Sharing App" at the China Travel Internet Industry Awards. In August 2018, it was listed on Forbes' "2018 China's Most Innovative Companies TOP 50." In December 2021, it ranked seventh on the "Top 10 Chinese Unicorns" list.

Looking ahead, Xiaohongshu continues to innovate. In July 2024, it initiated a "Digital ID" pilot program on its app. By January 13, 2025, Xiaohongshu topped the U.S. App Store download charts.
